Mrs.
Marisa Wester is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a
Bachelor of Music Studies in Music Education and Clarinet Performance and a
Master of Education in Learning Disabilities.
She is currently working on a PhD in Music Education at the University
of North Texas. She possesses her PK-12
teaching certification in both music and special education. This is her seventeenth
year as a public school teacher and her 18th year in education. She
has taught as a band director and special education teacher in both Texas and Georgia.
She has delivered in-service trainings for teachers in special education, technology
applications, and elementary music. After two years as a special education
strategist developing accommodations and modifications for children with
special needs, she chose to apply her skills as an educational consultant for
NCS Learn providing software and curriculum training for classroom teachers and
administrators. She returned to public education in 2001 teaching in a total
language classroom in Allen. Mrs. Wester came to Frisco ISD in 2002 and taught
three years at Fisher Elementary in a resouce/content
mastery class before choosing to return to teaching music in the public
schools.
Mrs. Wester continues to be an
active musician. She is a member of the choir at Christ
United Methodist
Church in Plano. She teaches clarinet lessons to
several area students and performs regularly at her church and as a clarinet
soloist and chamber musician. She also plays guitar for children and writes her
own music.
Mrs. Wester lives in Frisco with
her husband and three children.
